Entry to the football academy pathway is subject to a successful trial and learnes must be based at the Wycombe campus.

- What will I learn?
The course will develop your skills, personal qualities to provide a basis for further study at level 3 and motivation towards careers in the public services or sport.
While attending the Football Academy, learners will:
- Follow a progressive football development syllabus aligned to professional academy standards
- Participate in a structured strength and conditioning programme to support athletic development
- Receive position-specific coaching with an individual development focus
- Use video analysis to support learning, reflection and performance improvement
- Learn about preparation, lifestyle and performance behaviours that support success in sport

- Additional Information During the course you have have opportunities to take part of a range of enrichment activities and trips. The course has a compulsory requirement for students to wear uniform which you will be shown and can purchase at the start of the course. The Football Academy is overseen by UEFA A Licensed Coach Tom Donati, supported by UEFA B Licensed coaches, and follows FPF’s established development framework. This framework focuses on technical ability, tactical understanding, physical development and positive performance behaviours. Students enrolled on other full-time courses at Buckinghamshire College Group may be considered for participation in the Football Academy subject to timetable compatibility and departmental approval. Students who are not studying a sport-related qualification must discuss their interest with their course department to ensure that their academic timetable allows for attendance at academy training sessions and fixtures. Participation is subject to trial, availability and the student’s ability to meet the commitments of the academy programme. The Football Academy is open to all full-time students based at Wycombe Campus aged 16–19 who demonstrate the required levels of motivation and ability, regardless of their chosen subject pathway. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they are available to attend and fully engage in academy activities. Students may continue to represent their local club alongside academy participation where appropriate.
- Progression
Following successful completion of the course you will be able to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Public Services or Sports courses. A number of industries can be considered, such as the Armed Forces, Police, Prison Service or Security Services and the Sport and Leisure Industry including Outdoor Activities.
The programme provides clear progression routes into coaching and sports-related careers. For learners who demonstrate the appropriate ability, attitude and commitment, there are also opportunities to progress within FPF’s wider football development pathway.
- How am I assessed?
This course will include written assignments and practical activities, including outdoor activities and fitness training.

This exciting programme not only builds your knowledge of Sports Coaching and Performance but also offers a unique opportunity to join the Future Pro Footballers (FPF) Academy in Wycombe.
The academy pathway enables learners to combine a recognised sports qualification with professional football training and competitive match play.
Designed for learners with a strong interest in football and sport, the programme offers a structured, academy-style environment that supports both academic progress and personal development. Learners take part in two to three football training sessions per week during college hours and represent the academy in weekly league and cup fixtures, gaining valuable experience within a competitive football setting.
The academy will provide structured football development for both boys and girls, offering an inclusive pathway for motivated students to progress in football alongside their education. Boys’ and girls’ squads will compete in appropriate leagues, ensuring a high-quality and competitive playing programme for all learners.
