Students from Buckinghamshire College Group are celebrating an outstanding clean sweep at this year’s Chorleywood Film Competition. They secured first, second and third place in the senior category, showcasing the exceptional creative talent emerging from the College’s Amersham Campus.
Leading the way was Oliver Turner, who claimed first place with his short film The Beast. Judges praised the production as:
“a well-crafted horror short with a strong three-act structure, clear storytelling, and impressive cinematography, using dark humour, sound, props, and locations to build a real sense of dread.”
Oliver’s film stood out among a competitive field, demonstrating professional-level techniques, strong storytelling flair, and a clear artistic vision. The result was a high benchmark for the category.
The College’s success did not stop there. Fellow students Oscar Howard and James Richardson secured second and third place respectively, further showcasing the depth of talent within Buckinghamshire College Group’s creative media programme.
All three students recently completed the Level 2 Creative Media course at the Amersham Campus, where they developed key skills in filmmaking and production techniques. Their achievements are a testament not only to their own dedication and creativity but also to the high-quality teaching and industry-relevant learning experiences offered by the College.
This remarkable accomplishment celebrates the individual success of the students while also highlighting the strength of the College’s creative provision. Buckinghamshire College Group continues to build its reputation as a hub for emerging media talent, supporting students to gain the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in the creative industries.
A huge congratulations to Oliver, Oscar and James on such a well-deserved victory!
