I chose to study at Buckinghamshire College Group because it offered a practical, media-focused environment where I could develop real skills rather than just learning theory. The College had a strong reputation for supporting creative students and providing hands-on opportunities, which was exactly what I was looking for at that stage of my education.
- Why did you choose this course and what were your ambitions at the time?
I chose this Level 3 Media course because I had a strong interest in media and creativity, particularly around football, sport, and storytelling. At the time, I knew I enjoyed creating content and working with audio, video, and written media, but I wanted to develop my skills properly and understand how the media industry really works. My ambition when starting the course was to gain practical experience, build confidence, and explore different areas of media such as journalism, radio, and video production. I wanted to learn the technical skills, improve my communication, and figure out which direction in media suited me best. The course gave me the opportunity to be creative while also preparing me for further education and a future career in media. At the time, my goal was to use it as a stepping stone towards higher education and eventually work within sports and football media.
- What did you enjoy the most about your course and your time at the College?
What I enjoyed most was the creative freedom and the encouragement to explore different areas of media, including journalism, radio, and video production. The supportive teaching staff and relaxed but professional environment helped me build confidence in my abilities and enjoy learning. I also valued the sense of community and being able to collaborate with other students on projects.
- What experiences and skills from your course have been most valuable in your journey so far?
The most valuable skills I gained were communication, content creation, teamwork, and confidence. These skills have been essential throughout my university studies and into my current role.
