Christopher Jenkins (BTEC Graphic Design)

Studying BTEC National Diploma Graphic Design and First Diploma Art & Design

Christopher Jenkins, a former BTEC National Diploma Graphic Design and First Diploma in Art & Design student at the College started out with mixed emotions regarding further education, but it didn’t take him long to realise he was on the right path.

“From school and then part-time employment I realised I didn’t want a job where every day you couldn’t wait to get home, so, interested in art and design I applied for a one year First Diploma course in Art and Design. That year was the most fun I had ever experienced in education and at the end of it I was awarded a qualification! After that it didn’t take much to convince me that education was the way forward.”

“I found my time at the College very beneficial not only to my drawing and designer proficiency but also to my professional attitude. When I started I would arrive late and leave early but by the end of my course I was leaving as late as I could.”

Adopting a positive attitude towards work is one thing, but just as important is proficient teaching and a stimulating working environment, and here Chris was able to tap into the expertise of highly skilled tutors and great facilities.

“I think all of the tutors on both of my courses were perfect for the job. Between them they had all the necessary knowledge, and experience from a range of backgrounds to cover a lot of ground in art and graphic design. There was always a helping hand from very progressively motivational staff.”

Chris has now moved on to Leicester University where he is studying a full time BA Hons, Graphic Design and Illustration.
