Applying for Part-Time Courses


Please note: if your employer is to be invoiced, you must bring a signed letter on headed paper stating your name, the course details, the fee amount and confirmation that they are responsible for the fees. VAT receipts available upon request. If you are claiming fee remission you will need to bring evidence of your eligibility (see Fees Policy).

You can enrol in person or by telephone for all courses. However, please note that for all courses marked with a ‘Y’ in the final column you will first require an interview with a tutor. We therefore run advice events at the Amersham, Chesham and High Wycombe Campuses during the year. Details are published on this website and in local press, or you can call 0800 614016 Please call in at any time during these sessions when you will be able to discuss your needs with our professional tutors and ensure that you are enrolled on the right course for you.

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions in person, to discuss those courses marked with a ‘Y’, please ring Enquiries & Admissions on Freephone 0800 614 016 who can arrange for one of our tutors to provide advice by telephone.

If you are calling in person you can speak to our Enquiries & Admissions staff at the Amersham Campus, the Chesham Campus or the High Wycombe Campus.

Many of our courses are Government subsidised and for this reason the following information will be required when you enrol by phone or in person:

  • Course code and title (as printed in the prospectus)
  • Your national insurance number
  • Personal details including postcode, and date of birth
  • Ethnicity
  • Whether you have lived outside the European Union in the last three years. If so, please tell us what country and what dates
  • If there are any restrictions on the length of your stay in the UK (e.g. are you here on a visa)
  • Details of your credit/debit card Fees Policy - All Students (Excluding Higher Education)

    Fee Remission

    If you are in any of the following groups you may qualify for fee remission. Courses marked ‘Y’ in the Part Time Course Listing are eligible for fee remission. You need to provide evidence at enrolment of the following:

  • In receipt of Job seekers allowance
  • In receipt of Income Support
  • In receipt of Working Tax Credit
  • In receipt of housing benefit
  • In receipt of council tax benefit (means tested)
  • In receipt of Pension Guarantee Credit

    Or

  • Unwaged dependants of those on the benefits listed above
  • Those taking courses where the primary learning goal is adult basic education
  • Level 2 entitlement
  • Level 3 entitlement
  • Any 16-18 year old, provided the programme is LSC funded
  • Asylum Seeker in Receipt of Benefit for at least 6 months

    If you are unsure please ask our Enquiries & Admissions staff. If you are unemployed and attend college for 15 hours a week or more, your benefits entitlement may be affected; please check with your local DSS office.

    Exams and Admissions Fees (See Course Listing for additional registration fees)

    The price shown in the Fee column contained in the Course Listing includes a £10 administration fees. You may also be required to purchase materials related to your course which are not included in your fee e.g. clay for ceramics and pottery. Certain courses require you to pay an additional registration/exam fee to the examining board and/or professional body concerned. These courses are identified in the Prospectus.     Financial Assistance

    If you are studying at the College, and experiencing financial difficulties, you can apply for financial assistance towards books, material, travel and other expenses incurred by your course. Further information is available from Enquiries & Admissions. We cannot guarantee that your application will be successful, but each case will be considered individually within the guidelines provided by the Department for Education and Skills.

    Payment by instalments

    For course fees of £200 or more, you can pay one third of the total when you enrol, and two further instalments, with the final instalment due before your course starts. For course fees of £400 or more, you can pay 50% of the total when you enrol, and the remaining 50% four months after the course starts (unless the course duration is 6 months or less, in which case the remaining 50% is due three months after the course starts).     Refund Policy

  • We will refund any fees paid if we cancel a course before the start date
  • We will refund any fees paid pro rata if we cancel a course after it has started
  • We will aim to give you prior notice of a class cancellation

    We will refund all your fees, with the exception of the administration fee, if a written request is received prior to the course start date. Please let Enquiries & Admissions know in writing with your enrolment number. Please mark your envelope “Refund”. We will not refund your fees if you withdraw from a course after this time and all fees remain payable.

    The method of refund will be the same as the method of payment e.g. a credit card payment will receive a credit card refund.

    Notes

    There is a requirement that students enrolled on a Government subsidised course will undertake all the qualification requirements, for example course work and/or exams. (Please ask Enquiries & Admissions for details).

    Any additional registration fees are payable to the Awarding Body and are not included in the fee.
