New Diplomas
The Diploma is an exciting new qualification jointly developed with industry and universities to prepare college and school students for the real world of employment. It will give you a fully-rounded education, including the functional skills in English, Maths and ICT and the thinking and learning skills that are particularly valued by employers and universities. It will help you explore potential careers in areas that interest you, but it will keep your options open as it will prepare you for work or further study. The new diplomas have been assessed as the equivalent of 7 GCSEs (at Level 2, the Higher Level) and 3.5 A levels at Level 3 (Advanced Level). The universities have signed up to accepting the new qualification just as they do A Levels and BTEC National Diplomas.
The Diploma offers an innovative mix of both theoretical and practical learning, appealing to those of all abilities and in a broad work-related context. The Diploma qualification is designed for 14 -19 year olds.
