AS / A Levels
A Levels remain the best recognised general qualification for University entry, especially for fields such as Law, Psychology, English and other traditionally academic subjects. The great advantage of A Levels is their flexibility. You can take 4 AS subjects, probably dropping to 3 in your second year, which gives you a very wide range of options when you make your University application.
Since 2000, A Levels are now divided into AS and A2 – the AS usually done in the first year, the A2 in year two. The AS Levels can be stand-alone qualifications, or you can continue with most subjects to a full A2 award, if you have passed the AS.
