Our Open Evening for the Football Education Programme in association with Chelsea FC Foundation for 16-18 year olds takes place on Wednesday, 13th June , from 5.30-8.30pm at the Flackwell Heath campus.  There will be a presentation about the education programme at 7.00pm.  Potential applicants should contact Andy Jackson on 01442 834203.

Courses
Academic courses – Levels 1 (1 year), 2(1 year) and 3 (2 years) in BTEC Sports Studies  are available.  A Level 3 BTEC is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.  See the course information here for full details.

The College has an ongoing relationship with Chelsea Football Club Foundation.  Teams play in match kit supplied by Chelsea Football Club and will have the opportunity to occasionally use Chelsea’s training ground.

Coaching
The Head Coach Peter Scott is a UEFA A license coach. Peter is a former professional footballer who played for numerous clubs, including Fulham FC (where he captained the club), Bournemouth and Barnet to name but a few. Peter has coached for a number of professional clubs ranging from Watford to Reading.  He has recently studied different coaching methods at the highly rated Dutch team PSV Eindhoven. With over 30 years of experience at the highest level, Peter brings much more than just a wealth of knowledge to each session.

Assistant Coach and Lecturer Joe Hatcher is currently working toward his UEFA B coaching license. Joe spent 4 years in America where he graduated with a degree in Physical Education and played in the NAIA winning championship and major tournaments for Martin Methodist College. He also played professionally for the Nashville Metros and the Ottawa Fury, again winning national honours.

Head of the Department Martin Dean also holds the UEFA A Licence and has headed up the Football Programme at Amersham & Wycombe College for 7 years.  Martin holds an honours degree in Sport Science, a Masters degree in Sports Sciences and is now working through a PhD on ‘Developing Decision-Making & Tactical Expertise’ registered with Loughborough University. Martin has coached in the academies of Crystal Palace FC, Chelsea FC, Brentford FC and Reading FC over the last 20 years and is currently head coach of the Reading FC Academy 16’s squad, which involves working with and against some of the best young players in the country.

Typical working week
Monday is a double training session at Farnham Park
Tuesday is a double training session at Farnham Park
Wednesday is match day – home matches are played at Bisham Abbey’s National Sports Centre
Thursday is an academic day at the Flackwell Heath Campus
Friday is an academic day at the Flackwell Heath Campus

Students who join the Football Education Programme will play competitive Football – there are 2 teams that both play in a highly competitive national league and cup competitions.

During the course, students have the opportunity to gain an F.A. Level 1 coaching certificate, a gym instructors certificate that guarantees an interview to work at the London Olympics 2012.

Academic progression
Students will have the opportunity to find jobs in the leisure industry, including Coaching, becoming a Personal Trainer and working in Leisure Management.  Past students have gone on to British universities and Scholarships in Universities in the US of A where they have been extremely successful.
