Now you have chosen your course, it is time to apply.
Full Time, Further Education Courses
A Levels, BTECs, Diplomas, Certificates, Awards.
To apply for any further education course please complete the application form on the right of this page, save it to your computer and email it as an attachment to info@amersham.ac.uk. Alternatively you can also print it and post it to use using the Freepost address at the bottom of the form. If you have any questions, please call the Course Information Team on 0800 614 016.
We will acknowledge receipt of your application within 5 working days. At a later date you will be sent a letter asking you to attend an interview. After the interview, we will let you know the results within 10 working days.
If we make you an offer and you do not achieve the results you expect you will still be able to get a place at the College although it may need to be at a different level. There is always a positive way forward and we want you to succeed by achieving your highest potential.
If you are a UK student, aged 16-18 years old, and applying for a full time course, you will pay no tuition fees. If you are 19 or over, there may be a fee which includes registration/exam costs. The College is able to consider financial assistance on an individual basis to help you if you are in financial difficulty.
International Students applying for Further Education Courses
We welcome applications from international students. We will send out an acknowledgement of your application within 5 days of receiving it. This will be followed by a letter inviting you to attend an interview. All students applying for a full time course are required to attend an interview in person before being considered for a place on a course. You will need to arrange your own visa. If you are a student from outside the EU you will have to pay overseas fees.
Part Time Courses
The college welcomes applications from UK and international students equally. If you are paying the full fee for the course yourself and do not need to attend an interview before enrolling, (check this in the course information section of the website), you can complete the form on the right and email it to us on info@amersham.ac.uk or post it to us at the Freepost address on the bottom of the form. Alternatively, you can call us on 0800 614 016 (Mondays to Thursdays 9.00am – 5.00pm and Fridays 9.00am – 4.30pm), or visit our Amersham or High Wycombe (Flackwell Heath) campuses to enrol. When booking by phone or in person, you will need to inform us of:
- Your National Insurance number
- Whether you have lived outside the European Union in the last three years (if so, where and when)
- Any restrictions on the length of your stay in the UK (e.g. if you are here on a visa)
- Details of your credit/debit card
Do I need to speak to a tutor first?
Yes, for those courses where an interview is required, this can be checked in the Courses section of the website. To speak to a tutor, please call 0800 614 016.
Do I qualify for a reduced course fee? Can I get help with study costs?
Certain stipulations apply and are best discussed over the telephone, or if it is more convenient for you, in person. Please call 0800 614 016 for more information. If you are unemployed and attend College for 15 hours a week or more, your benefits entitlement may be affected; please check with your local Jobcentre Plus. If you are studying at the College, and experiencing financial difficulties, you can apply for financial assistance towards books, material, travel and other expenses incurred by your course.
What if my employer is paying?
You and your employer must complete a student sponsorship form stating your name, the course details, the fee amount and confirmation that they are responsible for paying the fees. Your employer will be invoiced for the course fee. Sponsorship forms are available from the Course Information Team. If you are claiming fee reductions, you will need to bring evidence of your eligibility (see below).
Part time higher education courses & fees
All students (UK and international) should apply directly to the college for part time foundation degrees as with all other part time courses. Fees will vary depending on the nature and duration of the course. International students on a part time, government funded course are charged a percentage of the full time fee based on the number of hours they are taught. International fees differ from the (UK and EU) fees advertised on the website in the Courses section. For courses not funded by the government, the fee advertised on the website is applicable. For information about the specific course you are interested in, please call +44 (0)1494 585555 for more information.
Payment
Collection of all tuition fees and charges for students will be at enrolment, except when instalment payments apply. The College expects all learners to pay their fees at the point of enrolment. In exceptional circumstances, learners may apply to pay by instalments. There will be an administration charge of £25 for late payment of any instalments. Anyone who has a bad payment record, or who has a current debt to the College, will not be eligible for payment by instalments.
Are there any exams fees or other costs?
You may be required to purchase materials related to your course which are not included in your fee e.g. clay for ceramics and pottery. Certain courses require you to pay an additional registration/exam fee to the examining board and/or professional body concerned. Additional registration fees are payable to the Awarding Body and are not included in the fee. For further details, please call 0800 614 016.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds on tuition fees only are available in certain circumstances. See the Fees Policy.
Apprenticeships
Not all Apprenticeships are funded by the government. The fee will depend on prior attainment of the individual learner. For the exact tariff, please call 0800 614 016. See the Apprenticeships page on the website for further information.
