Explosive start to 2012 for Bridging the Gap Students

Friday, January 6th, 2012

A group of dedicated students who completed training at Amersham & Wycombe College to be an official steward for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympic Games, received a special bonus for New Year’s eve when they were invited to put their newly learnt crowd control skills to the test by stewarding at the massive fireworks display in central London.

Student Amin Choudhury, who is currently studying a BTEC Level 3 Diploma Understanding Enterprise & Entrepreneurship with the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, was one of the lucky students to be invited to participate at the valuable work exprerience event.  “It was quite a daunting task but something I really enjoyed and to see the fireworks light up the sky made it all the more special,” said Amin after the event.  The students were in action from 5.30pm to 2.30am – long before the crowds gathered and sometime after they had dispersed.

All of the selected students have to complete  and achieve training units in addition to the courses for which they are studying.  Once these are completed they will be awarded contracts to work as an official steward at the London 2012 Olympics.
